How to get healthier hair

Hey to anyone reading this! I've recently been trying to get my hair looking healthier so i thought i would share my tips with the world as i know it can be a pain to try to do. Hope they're helpful!

  1. Use less heat- I know this is one you hear all the time but it really does work. I know some days your hair just wont go right and you have a use straighteners or a curling tong this is fine, but i found the key to achieving this was to first to limit myself to only using heat appliances once or twice a week. After that i found my hair started getting healthier and less frizzy so i eventually stopped using them weekly and more when i was going somewhere nice.
  2. Protect your hair- If you do have to use heat use a good heat protectant spray. I personally think the best is the tresemme heat protect at spray. Run this through your hair then use the heat and i guarantee your hair will feel healthier. Also another tip if you have to blow dry your hair, put it on the lowest heat setting there is or if there is a setting that says eco put it on that.
  3. Cut your hair regularly- This is one i struggle to stick too because nearly every hair dressers i have been too has completely ignored me saying i only want an inch off and has hacked off more. This is something that really puts me off but honestly it does help. if you leave you hair too long with split ends they will just carry on splitting up the strand until half your hair is dead. I suggest if you don't want to go to the hair dressers then invest in some good hair dressing scissors. Whenever you feel your hair just needs a little trim go through the ends yourself or if you trust a family member or friend get them to do it. then you can cut off however much you like. What i do is go to the hair dressers probably twice a year (i know thats bad) and have a good hair cut and then for the rest of the year i just give myself a trim if i think it needs it.
  4. Brush hair less- You may not have known this but brushing your hair is one of the main causes of breakage. Brushing your hair does stimulate hair growth but at the same time damages the hair. I suggest investing in good hair conditioners, detangling spray and only brushing your hair if you really have to.

Now here are some tips for when you wash your hair :)

  1. Wash hair under tepid water- If you wash your hair using cold/tepid water it helps to add shine
  2. Be careful with where you put shampoo and conditioner- Investing in good shampoo and conditioner is a must and everyone has their favourite but don't right off other products because it might be you washing your hair wrong that is making them less appealing. If your hair gets dry easily don't put shampoo on the ends of your hair. Shampoo is an amazing cleaner but it is also very drying and strips the moisture out of your hair. you can never use too much conditioner! When using conditioner if you get greasy roots quickly don't put conditioner on the top of your head! only use it about half way down your hair and leave on for 2 mins. I personally only use conditioner on my roots about once a week to stop from getting an itchy scalp.
  3. Use hair masks- Put a good hair mask on your hair about once a week and preferably one that contains lots of oils. This helps make your hair grow.
  4. Don't brush hair when wet- This is when your hair is at its weakest and brushing it when wet will create breakage. This is why when you was your hair there will be loads of hair left in the bath.
  5. Massage head- If you want longer hair massage your head after washing and this makes blood circulate round your scalp and stimulates growth.

Hope these helped! :)

5 Eyeliner ideas

  • Thin Line

  • Cat eye effect

  • Thick Line

  • Coloured Line

  • Natural Look (brown eyeshadow)

Hope these 5 looks gives you some ideas and helps you find a daily look if you don't have one already. Don't be afraid you use different colours and styles because you never know what might work for you unless you try it! Also i know liquid liner can be scary and a hard technique to master but a tip to make it easier is to use a contour brush and a liquid liner pot. I personally find doing liquid liner easier this way! :)

Hope you found this helpful

Kiko Make up Milano

Recently whilst on holiday in Italy i discovered a makeup brand called Kiko. I'd never heard of Kiko before which is surprising as i am a makeup fanatic and seem to have tried something from nearly every well known brand. Turns out Kiko is like a high street brand and most of the products are a nearly half most high street brand prices. With the prices being so low i decided to try out a product from most of the key areas and review them for people that haven't heard of the brand before.

Firstly is the Ultra glossy stylo lipstick in the colour pink flamingo. This lipstick is like the revlon colour burst lip butters however the Kiko version is less pigmented and gives more of a translucent glossy look. I personally really love this lipstick as its good for a everyday casual lipstick that just gives you a hint of colour and also surprisingly lasts for a very long time on the lips. Also the feel is very nice and leaves you lips moisturised after use. Another thing i likes is the taste, unlike many lipsticks this product doesn't leave a nasty after taste on you lips. Overall i would give this product an 8/10. If i could change one thing i would like it more pigmented however it is still perfect for a more natural look and for the price (£4.90) i think it's brilliant.

Next it the luxurious lashes maxi brush mascara. I personally struggle to find good mascaras so i like to try different brands to try different ones. I love the thick brush on this mascara as i personally like my eyelashes to have a thicker look and also the mascaras easy to apply and long-lasting. However I'm not so keen on the smell. For some reason the mascara has a strong alcoholic smell that no other mascaras I've tried have. I personally find it a little off putting but not enough to stop me from using it. I would give the mascara 6/10. for a cheap mascara (£3.90) i think its very good however the smell marked it down and its not the best i have ever used.

Don't know about you but i find trying to look for a good long lasting foundation is a right pain in the arse to find. So when i find a good one i tend to stick to it without trying others but when i saw the medium foundation that was only £5.90 i thought it's not going to break the bank and i may as well try it. Well I'm glad i did because i have fallen for it! At the moment i have a sun tan so i take a little bit and blend it into my skin till i have an even coverage.
I love it so much because it doesn't take long to sink in to the skin and it gives you a really nice smooth feel after applied. It's also quite matt as well and with me suffering with oily skin this is a must. At the end of the day it did start to lessen in coverage like most foundations but i just put a bit of powder on and it looks good as new. I would give this product a 8/10. I really love this product and its incredibly cheap so i definitely recommend it!

The Kiko creamy lipgloss is like Clinique chubby sticks but less pigmented. I really love the colour of this lipgloss (pearly coral) however because it is not very pigmented so the colour isn't as prominent on the lips. This is the only down side for me though as the lipgloss (which i wouldn't really class as a lipgloss as its a mix between a lipgloss and a lipstick) is very moisturising and lasts for a long time on the lips. I would give this product a 8.5/10 and at the price of £6.90 i would recommend it.

Next it the nail lacquer in the colour mint milk. At £2.50 i thought it was going to be really bad having tried many cheap nail varnishes and them not being so great however out of all of the products i bought this is my favourite. I have had this on for over a week and it has only just started chipping and with me being an art student this is a must! I absolutely adore the colour and it really brings out a suntan. To get the best look you have to put three coats on but for me i do that with all my nail varnishes to its not a problem. For what it is and how much it is i would give it 10/10. I think if it was more expensive i would reconsider that score but it still looks brilliant on the nails and i will definitely be buying more nail varnishes from this company!

Lastly are the smart eye pencils in colours iris violet and mid blue. I got these because i like wearing vibrant eyeliners in the summer. When using them you have to go over the line a few times to get a better colour and personally i would have wanted a more pigmented colour which these definitely aren't but if you are nervous to try different eye liner colours and you don't want them to be as vibrant i would highly recommend these. I would give them a 5/10 for me personally but at £2.50 each they are still a steal!

Overall i was really satisfied with Kiko's products and i will definitely be shopping in there regularly! I was highly surprised with the prices and if you can't tell i love to find bargains. Just like to point out I'm not a makeup artist and these are just my opinions but i hoped you liked it. Also this is not sponsored. keep your eyes peeled for my next review!
