Resolutions we make and fail at every year

New year is almost upon us which means resolutions are on everyones mind. I don't know about you though but nearly every year i make a resolution and completely fail at it. I make resolutions feeling so positive that i can succeed and i do really well for the first couple of weeks and then quicker than you can say 'I'm a complete fail' it's out the window and never to be mentioned again (if it is mentioned by a family member or friend they will get the I'm disowning you look). So i thought i would share with you some of my fail resolutions:

  • Get the summer body of my dreams (if only chocolate wasn't the devils food)

  • Eat healthier (have you noticed how much more expensive healthier food is to junk food, so really this is never going to happen because the whole worlds against us)

  • Do better in school/work (i do well until someone pisses me off)

  • Be overall a nicer person (i do well until someone pisses me off)

  • Be more productive and stop procrastinating (this one is laughable as this will never happen)

  • Start being more adventurous (thing is I'm such a procrastinator being adventurous is getting up earlier than 10:30 on a day off)

  • Get into a relationship (hahahahahahahahaha nuff said)

  • Stop arguing with siblings (would be easier if there soul purpose in life wasn't to piss me off)

  • Stop spending money on things i don't need (however most of my money does go on snacks and food is a necessity sooooo)

  • Get a reasonable amount of sleep (would only happen if the internet broke)

  • Spend less time on the internet (would only happen if the internet broke)

  • Get organised (again hahahahahahahahahha)

Hope you found this at least slightly entertaining and if you did please follow me on bloglovin

Things we've all done

  • Run up stairs after turning of the lights

  • If you have a pet i guarantee you have at least once tried to put your finger in their mouth when they yawn just to see what happens

  • Tried to balance the light switch between on and off

  • kept all limbs inside the covers when sleeping to save yourself from evil monsters

  • Hidden under the covers when you hear a noise at night because that cover is like a force field against all evil (note the sarcasm)

  • Walked past something that needs doing i.e. take the rubbish out and thought to yourself 'someone should probably do that' then walk off again. Instead of doing it yourself you think someone else should probably do it.

  • When asked what shop an item of clothing is from you say a completely different shop because you don't want you friend to go out and buy the same one as you

  • Closed a social network site when your parents are in eye sight because you just can't risk it

  • Given yourself a reason as to why your allowed to eat the amount of food your about to eat. 'because it's a wednesday, I've made it this far into the week without pulling a sickie so i should really reward myself'

  • Thought about what if secret cameras were recording your every move and how many friends you would have after the footage went out

Tresemme Split end hair remedy

Recently i have been trying everything to make my hair healthier as this cold winter weather may make the season more Christmassy but has damaged my hair. One of the things i wanted was a hair mask that would help for split ends and i found the Tresemme split end hair remedy. I have been using this for about two months now and can honestly say it has worked wonders. I have been using this after shampooing and conditioning and leaving in my hair for about 5-10 mins. Using it about half way down my hair, i put a generous amount on and comb it through with my fingers. Once i feel like i have left it long enough i wash it out.

I have to say i have used many split end remedies and haven't found anything as good as this. The ends out my hair have become healthier and after using the product the ends of my hair feel so soft. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family and would say that if you want long healthy hair this is a great product to use to ensure it stays looking good.

Situations anyone working in retail can relate to

  •  Assistant spends 30 min tidying one section, leaves for literally 5 mins and comes back to find it looking like a bomb has hit it. All you want to do is run into the corner and do this;

  • If you work in retail you know how precious your lunch and break is. Assistant looks at timetable, lunch at 12 o'clock. Gets to lunch time and you make your way to go on break and a customer stops you.
Customer: Hi do you work here?
Assistant: No sorry
Customer: but your wearing a badge?
(Assistant rips badge off and rugby throws it)
Assistant: what badge?

  • Every single week they insist on playing the same CD over and over again. You get in car to go home and song from work CD comes on. You then persist to rip radio out and throw it out of the car.
  • You do have one favourite sound that they play on the load speaker though that when you hear you want to cry from excitement. It goes like this:
'Our store is now closing, if you would like to buy anything please make your way to the nearest cash desk, i repeat the store is now closing'

  • Your manager asks if you are free to work extra time in the week. Assistant looks in mental diary

Assistant: yeah sorry I'm really busy

  • Get into work at 10 and finish at 6. Assistant thinks to themselves 'ok it only 8 hours i can do this!' What feels like a million hours go by and you look at the clock again and it reads 10:15. A part of assistants soul is removed.
  • 10 mins before you finish work and you have some left over rail that you don't know where it goes.
Assistant goes to co-worker: hey do you know where this goes?
co-worker: I've seen it before but don't know where it goes
Assistant: ok ill keep looking

waits for co-worker to disappear and shoves clothing item in random rail whilst whispering to the clothing item 'you belong here now'.

Thanks for reading, if you work in retail you may be able to relate to some of this haha.

Cute Christmas Picture frames

All you will need to make these festive picture is:

Frame (i went for a small one from Wilkos which was about £1.30)
Glue
Wrapping paper
White paint
Sponge
Scissors

First of all take apart the frame and put to one side the frame and glass as all you will need is the backing till the end.

Then place the flat side of the backing onto the plain side of the wrapping paper and draw round so that you know how much wrapping paper you will need to cover the inside of the frame.

Once you have cut out the rectangle glue onto wooden backing on the flat side that will be the inside of the frame. If the wrapping paper is a bit too big it doesn't matter just cut down to size. It doesn't matter if the paper isn't cut neatly because the edges of the inside bit will be covered by the frame so you won't be able to see.

Then using the sponge dip it into the white paint and sponge onto the edge of the paper and this will create a snowy window look. If you wanted to you could use white spray paint instead of paint however i find this can be messier and doesn't cut down that much time.

Then once the paint is dry put the frame back together and enjoy your festive frame. If you wanted to you could write inside a festive message for example 'baby it's cold outside' but because of the paper i chose i wanted it to stay plain.

Christmas traditions

We all have some sort of Christmas tradition whether it be going to the Church on Christmas eve or putting the tree up with all the family and even though your tradition may not be the most enjoyable you know it's not christmas until you do it. So i thought i would share mine and my mums tradition with you. Every year since i was about 6 i have been given a christmas tree ornament by my mum on the day we put up the tree. When she started the tradition she said to me she will give me an ornament every christmas so when I'm older i'll have my own personal collection. She also said i can look at every ornament and remember the christmas i was given them. This is my tradition that i will carry on when I'm older and have children and i think it's things like this that make christmas with the family even more special.

Make your own mince pies

Ingredients:
Approx. 4 ounces of salted butter
8 ounces of plain flower
Mincemeat (you can make your own but we used sainsbury's own)
Water

Tools:
Rolling pin
Mixing bowl
Tablespoon
Two different size glasses one slightly bigger than the other
Cupcake tin

Recipe:
(If your making your own pastry here are the steps if not ignore and go to the next section)
  • Preheat oven to 180 or high
  • Put the flour into the mixing bowl and add a pinch of salt
  • Then crumble the room temp butter into the flower and rub the butter into the flour with hands
  • Whilst doing this lift the flour and butter up as it helps to make the pastry lighter

  • When the butter is mixed into the flour add 2 tablespoons of water to the mixture and stir in.
  • Whilst doing this try to press the mixture to the edge of the mixing bowl to help the ingredients bind together and start to get the pastry texture.
  • Add another table spoon of water and repeat the step before
  • The mix should be starting to come together, then use you hands to try to combine the mixture

  • If you feel like you need to add a tad more water then add a little bit at a time to test but the key to making pastry is to not add too much water as it can make the pastry hard but don't add to little as it will crumble and fall apart.

  • Once you are satisfied with the pastry and it has combined all together remove it from the bowl and rest it in the fridge for over 10 mins but you can keep it in there till your ready for the next step.

  • using butter or flower rub into the cupcake pan so that the pies don't stick when you want to take them out
  • Sprinkle flour onto the surface your about roll on and section your pastry into two
  • With the first section roll into out with a roller and damp hands (the damp hands help if the pastry is slightly dry)

  • With your bigger glass cut out a circle with the top of the glass and place in your cupcake pan then repeat this to make as many as is in the cupcake pan and this will make the bottom of your mince pie.

  • Once you have cut them all out spoon some of your mincemeat mixture into the pie bottoms

  • With the rest of the pastry your going to make the topper
  • Roll out the pastry again with a rolling pin and damp hands and cut out circles again but with the smaller glass
  • Cut out as many as you need and with water dab it onto the sides and place onto the pies to make them stick together

  • Once all of the tops are on pierce the tops with a knife so that they don't explode and with a milk or egg mix wash onto the tops of the mince pies (this will make them golden brown)
  • You can also sprinkle on some sugar if thats what you like
  • Now place them into the oven for approx. 20 mins or till they are cooked to your liking.

Make your own Christmas cards

This is one of my favourite things to do at the beginning of the christmas countdown as i think it's a nice personal thing to do for close family and friends. It is also incredibly easy to do so i thought i would share with you mine. First i bought some card, envelopes, acrylic white paint, sponge and stick on christmas decorations. All of these things together came to around £10. Here are the three easy steps:

-First i sponged some white acrylic paint onto my card to make it look like festive snow
-Next i used the stick on decorations to create a festive picture on the card (i used 3D ones)

-lastly write a message inside the card and send them of to your family and friends

Gift guide for Men

As soon as the Christmas season rolls round many of us find ourselves in the position of what the heck do we buy for the males in the family?! So i have decided to put together a gift guide on what gifts would be great for your type of guy :)

The traditional man:

Vintage shaving set- my brother got one of these a couple of years ago and absolutely loves it. It's one of those ones your grandad would have used before razors and i think for a traditional/ vintage lover kind of guy this would be a great present.

Clay pigeon shooting session- I recently saw this on the programme Made in Chelsea and thought this would be a great idea for a present for a male.

Wine tasting session- again my brother recently did this and really enjoyed himself so if you know of any budding wine connoisseurs this would be great for them

Vinyl Record player- for anyone looking for a music fanatic this could be a great present. I know that my dad and grandad have a lot of old vinyl that they can't play anymore and would get a lot of use out of one of these. Just as a note these are more on the expensive side so if your on a budget this may not be the option for you.

Car racing days- My brother told me about this one and i thought most males would love this. For this one you can drive expensive cars around a race track or hire out a car for the day. Knowing my dad and his obsession which James Bonds cars i bet he would be chuffed with this as a present.

The New man:

Manicure/pedicure- as much as they don't want to admit it every man has a feminine side and i think that for a man that likes to be groomed this would be a prefer gift.

Massage- no one can resist a good massage

Aftershave- ahhh the trusty man perfume. I feel like this is the go to present for any female that doesn't have a clue what to get their man. Even if it is a bit of a last resort present many men now love their scents and would be pleased with getting this.

The Traveler: (great ideas for young men wanting to experience what the world has to offer)

Back pack- Every going traveling needs a good back pack and these are really easy to find as well

Hiking boots- depending on the type of travelling the male is doing these could come in handy

Journal- when my brother went travelling he took a journal with him and documented everyday so that if later on in life he wanted to remember a specific day of the trip he could look back and jog his memory of the amazing things he experienced.

Camcorder- another option to let them document their trip however this is more expensive and bigger to carry around

Sun glasses- every traveler needs a good pair of sunglasses

The Geek:

Ipad/Kindle/laptop ext- these are quite expensive objects so if your on a budget this isn't the one for you

Bag/case: this is a great gift that means they can store all of their expensive gadgets in a safe way

Remote control car/helicopter- this is one of the options I'm going with this year as you can get these everywhere and at a good price.

Books- Again this is a good present at a good price

The music man:

Concert tickets- may be a bit late to get tickets now but still a good idea

vinyls/ record player- again a great present for a music lover

Headphones- easy to get and at good prices (skull candy and beats are some good brands)

And last but not least the
Film buff: Box set, Camera
Newyorker: Coffee machine
Fashionesta: Clothes, Shoes, Watch, Cufflinks
Sportsman: sports clothes, equipment
Chef: cook books, cooking equipment

Hope that covers every type of man, if not then i tried :) Hope that gave you readers some inspiration and if you liked it then i would love it if you followed my blog on bloglovin.
